Liverpool are making progress in their efforts to sign Crystal Palace‘s Ismaïla Sarr late in this window.
The Reds are looking for another attacker, after reaching an agreement for Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.
The Crystal Palace star is among the targets, and Liverpool have already made an offer.
On Friday, Sport Witness covered a report from Senegal explaining that the Merseyside club haven’t given up despite Crystal Palace’s rejection. A new offer can arrive soon.
Liverpool table fresh bid
Journalist Lassana Camara took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that the Reds returned with the second proposal.
This was around €60m and the UEFA Conference League winners have again turned it down.
The Senegal international has a contract until 2029 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €45m. The Reds’ latest offer is €15m higher than this and it’s not enough to convince the Eagles.
Liverpool are not giving up on signing Ismaïla Sarr and the expectation is form them to return with a higher bid between €75m and €80m within the ‘next 48 hours’.
Liverpool making progress
Lassana Camara states ‘discussions are ongoing’, most likely between the Premier League sides, for the 28-year-old.
He makes no mention of Crystal Palace’s demand and adds that Liverpool are making progress.
Internally, Andoni Iraola’s side are confident of reaching an agreement with Crystal Palace to secure Ismaïla Sarr’s services.
Another journalist, Khadim Diakhaté, also took to X, to report the Reds are stepping up their efforts to sign him.
Cody Gakpo is on his way out and Manchester City are likely to be his next destination. This has seen the Anfield club focus on the Senegalese.
After Crystal Palace rejecting their €60m bid, Liverpool are already preparing a new bid of €75-80m. The Dutchman’s exit can be the ‘deciding factor’ as his exit will see Iraola’s side make Sarr their priority target.
The window closes on Tuesday, and time will soon tell whether the Anfield club can get the deal over the line or will they look for another attacker.
Should the London club accept an offer between €75-80m, the former Watford man will then be the most expensive Senegalese player in the Premier League.
Last season, the attacker scored 21 goals and contributed two assists from 45 matches. He is yet to make an appearance for Pierre Sage’s side this season.
