Birmingham City‘s Marvin Ducksch has opened the door to leave the Championship side and return to Germany this summer.

The German spent his entire playing career in his home country until the Blues signed him from Werder Bremen in August 2025.

He impressed in his debut season at Birmingham City, scoring 11 goals and contributing two assists from 36 matches.

The striker could be on the move, after Chris Davies’ side failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.

On May 28th, we relayed news of Ducksch travelling to Berlin to watch Bayern Munich’s DFB-Pokal final win over VfB Stuttgart. He liked the city and could move there to join Hertha Berlin.

Two days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that Hertha Berlin are still looking at the 32-year-old for this summer.

Birmingham City exit not advanced yet

On Tuesday, Marvin Ducksch was a guest on podcast, At Broski – Die Sport-Show, and Bild have relayed his comments.

The Birmingham City player spoke about several topics, including his immediate future at St. Andrew’s.

Bild pointed out recent claims of Hertha Berlin interest. The frontman confirms he is in talks over a summer move but didn’t reveal their details.

“I’m definitely in talks with several clubs, including some in the Bundesliga. But it’s still relatively early,” he said.

When further asked whether he’s open to returning to his country, the player talked about the conditions needed for him to join a club.

“I’m relatively open to that. But of course, if there’s a club where I’m convinced by the whole concept, then I would definitely like to return to the Bundesliga or to Germany,” Ducksch explained.

Clause to leave Birmingham City

Marvin Ducksch’s contract expires in 2028 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €1.5m.

Bild claim he can leave the English club for around €1m this summer. Last month, Sport Witness covered claims that this is his release clause now given Birmingham City didn’t return to the Premier League.

The striker’s suitors can snatch him by activating the €1m clause.
