Birmingham City‘s Marvin Ducksch has an opportunity to return to Germany this summer.
The 32-year-old arrived at St. Andrew’s from Werder Bremen in August 2025. A move to Birmingham City saw the German join a club outside his country for the first time in his career.
Chris Davies utilised the striker regularly and he finished his debut season with 11 goals and two assists from 36 matches.
He could be on the move again and complete a return to his country. On May 28th, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that Ducksch wants to leave the Blues.
Focus on Birmingham City player
Monday’s edition of Bild have a report on the second division German club releasing six players. They also sold 16-year-old rising star Kennet Eichhorn to Bayer Leverkusen for €9m.
Hertha Berlin captain Fabian Reese, who managed 11 goals and 13 assists this season, is also leaving. He has an €8m price tag but so far no of the suitors have met the price.
Reese earns €150,000 per month and has a contract until 2030. The 2.Bundesliga side have to raise funds and therefore, the parties could find a quick agreement for his exit.
Their plan is to use funds from Reese’s sale and invest it on a striker, and this is where Marvin Ducksch comes into the picture.
The Birmingham City player visited the Olympic Stadium for the DFB-Pokal final between Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart in May. The frontman’s agent also accompanied him to his trip to Berlin.
Ducksch travelling to the German city with his agent is seen as a transfer hint. There’s no mention of his price or the fee Hertha are willing to offer.
Contract, value and agent info
Marvin Ducksch’s contract expires in 2028 and is valued at €1.5m by Transfermarkt.
Last month, Sport Witness relayed news FC Augsburg are also keen on the player. He has a €1m clause that came into effect after Birmingham City failed to secure promotion.
This would make a potential deal easier for Hertha Berlin or any other club.
