Marvin Ducksch wants to leave Birmingham City this summer and has already been to Berlin with his agents ahead of a possible move.

BILD, in their Berlin-Brandenburg edition, report that the striker is already laying the groundwork to leave Birmingham after a year at the club.

Birmingham exit

The newspaper explains that Hertha BSC inquired about the 32-year-old striker three weeks ago. He was already on their wish list in the 2025 summer window.

Now they’ve revived that interest as they know that he wants to leave Birmingham following their failure to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Marvin Ducksch has even been to Berlin in the last few days. He visited the Berlin Olympic Stadium with his representatives from his agency EMG Mundial. They were present for the DFB Cup final between Bayern Munich and Stuttgart.

The Birmingham striker used this visit to ‘get a feel for the city’. Hertha are looking for a striker and Ducksch is one of the options on their list.

German suitors

An unnamed Bundesliga club and relegated VfL Wolfsburg are also interested in him. Ducksch wants to explore all of his options before more intensive talks with Hertha Berlin can begin.

The striker still has a year left on his deal in Birmingham. But the contract includes a €1m release clause. A recent report indicated that had drawn interest from Germany.

But Hertha Berlin couldn’t afford such a fee. They’re focusing on free transfers and need to sell players before they can buy anyone. The German side need to raise €15m. €12m of that will come from youngster Kennet Eichhorn, who is wanted by all the big clubs in Europe.

Other stars in the squad will then be offered up as sales candidates. If and when they depart, that could free up funds for a move for Ducksch. In the meantime, he’s weighing up his options as a move away from Birmingham looks likely.
