Birmingham City‘s Marvin Ducksch could be on his way out as he’s aiming for a move away from the Championship side in the winter market.
The German had spent his entire playing career in his home country before joining the Blues in August 2025.
In his debut season at Birmingham City, the striker scored 11 goals and contributed two assists in 2,148 minutes from 36 matches. A calf injury on two different occasions restricted his playing time.
The 32-year-old was seeking a move away from St Andrew’s in the summer window but wasn’t successful.
Wanted to leave Birmingham City in summer
In June, the frontman confirmed interest from a few German clubs. At that time, he had also expressed his wish to return to Germany.
He said: “I’m definitely in talks with several clubs, including some in the Bundesliga. But it’s still relatively early. I’m relatively open to that.”
Marvin Ducksch couldn’t secure a move back to Germany. Towards the end of the window, there were reports of Valencia wanting to sign him. Ron Gourlay, who was then Los Ches’ CEO, was quick to deny any interest in the Birmingham City player.
Chris Davies has hardly utilised him this season, limiting the player to 95 minutes from seven league appearances. It looks like the former Werder Bremen man is paying for his failure to find a new club in the summer.
Birmingham City exit on cards in January
With his current situation, coupled with the desire to return to Germany, Sky Deutschland states Marvin Ducksch is looking for a way out of the English club in January. His ‘time at Birmingham City ‘could soon come to an end’.
The attacker’s decision to join the Blues hasn’t worked out well, especially this season. After a summer failure, he is considering changing clubs in the next window.
The Birmingham City man’s ‘dream destination’ is the Bundesliga, while Valencia can also be an option. Despite Ron Gourlay’s denial, Sky insists the La Liga side showed interest and could make a new attempt.
Ducksch doesn’t have a key role under Chris Davies. His contract expires in 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €1.5m. Taking these factors into account, the Championship side are unlikely to stand in his way in January.
It’s probably too early to discuss the potential options, either in Germany or elsewhere.
