Nigerian agent Abiola Dauda has hailed Leeds United for their decision to bet on Leonard Ngenge.

In January, Leeds United completed his signing and secured the centre-back on a contract lasting until June 2027.

The move saw the Nigerian arrive in Europe for the first time as he previously had spells in his own country with Ikorodu City and Remo Stars.

He made 25 appearances for Ikorodu City and ended his time with them to join Remo Stars in July 2025. For the latter, the defender played 630 minutes from seven matches and left Remo Stars for the Premier League side.

Prior to moving to Elland Road, Ngenge made two appearances for Nigeria’s senior team.

Agent on Leeds United move

Abiola Dauda played professional football for almost two decades before ended his playing career in 2024. He has been working as an agent and Africa Foot interviewed him about Leonard Ngenge’s transfer to Leeds United.

The former striker is excited that Daniel Farke’s side secured the Nigeria international’s services after a successful trial. Dauda has even backed his compatriot to have a bright future.

“There are things I can’t say regarding Leonard’s move to Leeds, but what I can say is that he deserves it. Going on trial during the winter is no small feat. Leeds also believe in him, and I know he will become a top player,” he said.

Leeds United future needs sorting

However, it’s unclear whether the 19-year-old can have a breakthrough with the Whites anytime soon.

Leonard Ngenge is part of Leeds United U21 squad but is yet to make his debut for them. In fact, he hasn’t made it to the squad for even a single fixture.

This, coupled with Tarik Muharemović and Nico Elvedi’s summer arrivals, would make it difficult for the Nigerian. The Bosnian arrived from Sassuolo, and their sporting director, Francesco Palmieri, was happy to close the deal with Leeds United.

While Abiola Dauda backs Ngenge to have a bright future, the signs, at least for now, all point to an Elland Road exit next year.
