Beşiktaş have West Ham United‘s Konstantinos Mavropanos on their agenda and could make a fresh attempt to sign him in the winter market.

The centre-back joined the Hammers in 2023 and didn’t enjoy regular game time in his debut season. He cemented his place from the 2024/25 season and stayed at West Ham after their relegation.

This season, he’s played 1,118 minutes from 13 matches, even managing five goals and an assist. His performances have convinced the Turkish club to bet on him at the start of next year.

Focus on West Ham man for defence

Beşiktaş sporting director Eduard Graf had watched the Greece international live against Germany during the last international break. This would have convinced the director to consider signing him in January.

Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered a report from Turkey that the Black Eagles plan to contact West Ham United to ask about Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The Turkish club are looking to sign two to three players after this year. For the defence, the focus is on the West Ham man and Takvim covers the latest.

Graf has identified the defender as a target and his side were planning to contact the Championship side. It’s unclear whether there have been any talks between the two clubs so far.

Fresh attempt to sign West Ham player

The Süper Lig side have continued to monitor the 28-year-old, who has been a regular for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side. They may make a new attempt to sign him in the winter market.

It won’t be easy for Beşiktaş to complete the operation because West Ham United are ‘not keen’ to let him leave in January. The London club are posing the ‘biggest obstacle’ for them to sign the former Arsenal man.

If Beşiktaş were to still launch an attempt, Takvim states the Hammers then have to make a decision.

He has a contract until 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €18m. Without a renewal, the English club may have to sell him next summer. However, Nuno’s side have no plans to part ways with Konstantinos Mavropanos in January.
