Aston Villa have sent a delegation to Turkey to take a closer look at Oğuz Aydın, after contacting Fenerbahçe and his agent.
The winger joined the Turkish club from Alanyaspor in 2024 and has mainly settled for a backup role. He managed 10 goals and 15 assists in 3,807 minutes from 85 matches so far.
This season, he scored two goals and contributed three assists in 688 minutes from 16 matches. That includes 90 minutes in the 6-0 crushing Champions League defeat to Aston Villa earlier this month.
Despite failing to score or assist, the 25-year-old has caught the Europa League winners’ attention.
Aston Villa already take necessary steps

On October 17th, we relayed news of Unai Emery’s side asking Fenerbahçe officials about the conditions to sign Oğuz Aydın in January. The meeting took place after the Champions League defeat.
Last weekend, Sport Witness covered a report from Turkey explaining that Aston Villa contacted the player’s agent.
NTV picks up on these reports and shares fresh updates about the Villans’ efforts to sign the Turkey international.
Aston Villa sent a delegation to watch him live in action in the Yellow Canaries’ clash against Galatasaray on Monday. Aydın assisted İrfan Can Kahveci’s goal as his side lost 2-1 to the Turkish champions.
Having held talks with the Istanbul club for Aydın, the Premier League side may make an offer for him in January. There’s no mention of the fee they may propose or Fenerbahçe’s stance.
Aston Villa face tough battle
After the English club’s interest, ABC Gazetesi states Fenerbahçe, led by president Aziz Yıldırım, have taken action.
He’s aware Oğuz Aydın is attracting a lot of attention, especially after the European clash against Aston Villa. Therefore, the president has informed the club’s officials to start the renewal process.
The attacker’s contract lasts until 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €9m. The Süper Lig side intend to offer him a new contract and have invited his agent for a meeting. There will be more clarity about the improved contract after this meeting.
Even if he were to sign an extension, it may not be enough to stop Unai Emery’s side from launching an attempt.
