Everton have been linked with a move for Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe this summer and more details are emerging about their offer.
The Englishman joined the Rossoblu from Marseille last summer. They paid less than €20m for the deal and in the second half of the season, he showed clear signs of his ability.
Rowe ended the campaign with 13 goal contributions and most of them came in the second half of the season.
This led to Everton’s growing interest in the player. Sport Witness covered that an offer was made by the Toffees but it was never enough.
Atalanta also make move
Corriere Di Bologna offer some details about the winger’s situation, revealing that Atalanta have also made an offer for Rowe.
They confirm that even Everton did the same, putting forward €30m. Coincidentally, Atalanta have offered the same amount and this has been promptly rejected by Bologna, who were quick to reject the Toffees’ offer too.
The newspaper report that this amount was never even worth considering by the Rossoblu.
‘€45m is needed’ to sign Rowe, who is attracted by a return to England. A move elsewhere may not appeal to him.
This summer, a move is likely to be difficult but it remains a situation worth monitoring.
Our take: Toffees shouldn’t give up
Bologna have constantly sold their best players for figures around €40m. This was true for Joshua Zirkzee, Riccardo Calafiori and Dan Ndoye. Rowe could be next in line.
Since they signed him for a bargain, that figure should be enough to seal the deal.
Everton should continue to keep tabs on the situation. Even if a deal may not work out now, it could be possible next summer.
