Aston Villa have been linked with a move for AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori and there is belief the move can now gather pace.
Sport Witness have extensively covered how the Englishman is out of Ruben Amorim’s new project at the Rossoneri. The Portuguese manager isn’t a fan of Tomori’s profile and this led to initial interest from Coventry City.
The defender wasn’t keen to the Sky Blues, and was waiting for other offers. Soon, Aston Villa emerged.
The destination is more appealing to the player and the transfer could soon accelerate.
Brighton defeat can play a role
Gazzetta dello Sport report Aston Villa have been in touch with Tomori’s entourage in recent days. A formal move hasn’t been made yet, however, discussions between the two parties have been held.

They clarify that Aston Villa’s loss to Brighton on Sunday will prompt them into a formal approach. The newspaper expect this to be a key week for Rossoneri outgoings, as that will help them with further incomings.
Milan currently value Tomori at €15m and remain open to his sale, with the player’s current deal running out in 2027.
Our take: Ordonez could be a better move
Tomori is currently 28 and his stock has clearly dropped since Milan won Serie A some years ago. His ability on the ball has been called into question by Amorim and he has shown weaknesses playing in a higher defensive line too.
That is why moving for Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez would be a better deal. He is only 22 and is a much more complete profile than the Englishman.
He might be a bit more expensive but is a better fit for what Aston Villa want right now.
