Mitrovic has been included in the EFL best eleven for last week following his performances against Preston North End in the league and EFL Cup.
His two goals against Preston last week clinched a quarter final spot in the cup, and the former Anderlecht star repeated this at the weekend in their Championship clash with the North West club. Mitrovic’s four goals against Preston took his tally for the season to five in nine games in all competitions.
Newcastle United’s victory on Saturday was their seventh straight win in all competitions, and Rafa Benitez’s side are now three points clear in the league table. The North-East club also meet Hull City in the EFL Cup later this month, and on current form they will be confident of grabbing a semi-final place.
