Trabzonspor are keen on extending Paul Onuachu’s stay, after signing him on loan from Southampton last summer.
Two days ago, we relayed news from Turkey that the striker informed manager Abdullah Avcı of his desire to continue, and that the Saints have to make a decision on him.
Fanatik now state Trabzonspor are in contact with Southampton for the 29-year-old and also to sign another player from the Championship side.
Trabzonspor are looking to strengthen their defence and have identified Southampton’s Jan Bednarek and Duje Ćaleta-Car, currently on loan at Lyon, as two targets. The latter was on their agenda last summer.
It’s explained that Avcı likes both centre-backs and a potential deal for one of them would depend on the cost of the operation. The 27-year-old Croatia international, who has made 25 appearances for Lyon this season, has a deal until 2026 at St Mary’s.
Bednarek, on the other hand, has over a year left on his contract, and Fanatik are of the belief Russell Martin’s side ‘may not demand a high fee’ to sell the 28-year-old. Whether that’s the case remains to be seen.
The Dane has made 41 appearances this season and it’s possible for him to sign a new deal at Southampton.
