Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills expects owner Massimo Cellino to give manager Garry Monk money when the transfer reopens in the New Year. Leeds United are currently just out of the play-off places, and will feel they have a good chance of getting promotion to the Premier League this season.

Speaking to Talksport, Mills said what Monk has done since being installed as Leeds United manager has been impressive because of the way he’s starting to get results.

The former England international expects Monk to get backing from Cellino in the transfer market, and doesn’t see why his old club can’t grab a play-off spot in this campaign.

“It’s phenomenal. Monk has come in and he’s starting to turn things around. It’s fantastic. I think the owner might give him a bit more money to spend in the transfer window, and there’s no reason why they can’t make the play offs,” said Mills on his former club.

After a shaky start to the season, which saw just one win in their opening six games, Leeds United have turned things around in the past couple of months. Monk and Leeds have also put a run together in the EFL Cup, and will face Liverpool in the quarter final later this month.
