Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Julio Enciso has insisted he will sit down with the club to discuss his intention to play in the Olympics with Paraguay this summer.
The youngster has been speaking to La Nacion about his international ambitions and how that could put him on something of a collision course with Brighton because of them.
Enciso has barely featured for the Seagulls this season, with just ten appearances and 352 minutes all year as he’s battled with a meniscus tear.
He’s still working to get back from that properly and ordinarily he would spend the summer rehabilitating properly ahead of bouncing back next season.
That’s been complicated by Paraguay’s qualification for the Olympics in Paris this summer, though, which he ordinarily would be a certainty to be a part of.
That’s something Brighton are unlikely to be comfortable with, though, given he’s spent so much of this season out with his injury problems.
And that appears to be something he’s aware of, admitting he is planning a sit down with the Seagulls to make his intentions clear on the matter and work something out.
“I live for football and as long as I still have the strength, I will always have the desire, I really like training,” he said.
“My dream is to be a top player and I am not going to stop until I achieve it, I want to play in a World Cup with Paraguay.
“I have to have a meeting with the Brighton management, and we are going to address that issue too. I hope it is possible, I want to play in any championship with the national team, it is another feeling for me.
“It’s going to be complicated, I’m coming back from an injury, but I’m going to do everything possible. I think so, we have to talk… For me the national team is everything, I always want to be in the national team, and I want to achieve something that will give a lot of happiness to the people, to the country, I want to do it and I am not going to stop.”
