Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ezequiel Palacios has hinted he will look at this future in the summer as the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Manchester City all hover to sign him.
The Argentine has been speaking to La Nacion about this season and where it may take him as he continues to shine under Xabi Alonso.
The Argentine has been a key component of Leverkusen’s success as they’ve romped to a first ever Bundesliga title and have their eye on the Europa League final.
He’s been impressive and finally managed to establish himself in the team after initially struggling in his first two years at the club.
His performances have not gone unnoticed either, with he and several Bayer Leverkusen stars in the spotlight, and rightfully so, given the way they’ve performed this season and romped to the title under Alonso’s guidance.
Palacios has already been linked with a move away, with reports in Germany already crediting Aston Villa, Newcastle and Manchester City with an interest in recent months.
La Nacion name them again as suitors and ask the player what the future may hold, to which he admits he’s waiting to see.
“Bayer Leverkusen met all my expectations,” he said.
“Here I was always able to develop more as a player. I enjoy being in Germany, I am very comfortable, happy. I don’t think about the future, then we’ll see where I’m going next.”
Of the three, Newcastle seem the most likely to make a move given they could lose Bruno Guimaraes, although it remains to be seen if that actually happens.
Aston Villa and Manchester City make less sense given the strength they have in midfield, but with the former set for the Champions League, perhaps they want even more.
Either way, it seems Palacios is waiting to see too, leaving the door very much ajar despite seemingly being very happy where he is.
