Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare really wants to join Ajax on a permanent basis. And if he has to do a bit of campaigning to make it happen, then so be it.

The forward joined the Dutch side on loan in the summer after a tumultuous and anger fuelled exit from Molineux. We’re sure you know the details of that by now.

The move has worked out well for everyone so far. Arokodare has been speaking about happy he is since day one. And he’s been earning fans off the pitch.

His performances on it have also helped. The striker is currently sitting on nine goals and three assists in 14 games in all competitions. In the Eredivisie alone, he has recorded five goals and one assist in nine games to date.

Ajax seem to be highly satisfied with him, and they have been openly told to buy the striker in a heartbeat.

€20m option

They have a €20m option to do so, although they may wish to negotiate it down.

As Sport Witness explained this week, it would be a big fee for them to pay next summer despite agreeing to it. Their intentions are likely to be dependent on qualifying for the Champions League.

In the meantime, the Wolves striker isn’t going to stop going public about how happy he is. Nor will he stop heaping praise on Ajax. The latest of that comes in an interview with Het Laatste Niuews this week.

“I love everyone here. Ajax feels like heaven,” he said.

“The training complex is top-notch, the stadium is beautiful, the fans are amazing—I love the style of play.

“I pray that things continue this way. I’m working hard for it, too, because I don’t want to be a ‘one-season wonder.’

“I’d hate for people to say that about me next year. I want the rest of my career to look just like this season. Maintaining a high level consistently is the hardest thing there is.”

Premier League return?

If Ajax don’t sign him permanently, then a return to England beckons.

Wolves will, perhaps, hope to leverage a superb season in the Netherlands to their advantage.

Could that mean a potential second shot at the Premier League? The Wolves striker isn’t ruling it out despite his struggles at Molineux last season.

“I think I have the qualities for it, yes,” he added.

“Could I have done better last year? Of course—I think anyone can do better in any situation. I certainly gave it my all; it just didn’t work out.”
