Barcelona and Real Madrid are showing interest in Tottenham Hotspur‘s Pedro Porro, and the La Liga winners have already taken action to sign him in the winter market.

In June, the right-back signed a long-term contract until 2031, with an option for another year. However, that hasn’t stopped the two Spanish giants from looking at him.

In recent weeks, the Spanish media have discussed Barcelona and Real Madrid’s desire to sign him.

Despite signing the renewal, the Spain international isn’t closing the door on leaving the Premier League side.

Not ruling out Tottenham exit

On October 13th, Sport Witness covered a report from Spain explaining that the 27-year-old believes Spurs is no longer the best club for him. On Friday, the former Girona man said he dreams of returning to La Liga.

He said: “Obviously, I’d love to return to Spain someday. It’s my country, and I like the league. Right now, it would be very unfair to talk about anything other than my club because I’m under contract, but obviously, I’d love to go back to Spain; it’s a big dream of mine.”

Barcelona can fulfil his dream as early as January, and SER Deportivos journalist Pacojó Delgado covers the latest. He states Hansi Flick’s side recently contacted Pedro Porro’s agent about signing him either in the winter market or next summer.

The fullback had a partnership with Barca star Lamine Yamal at the World Cup. The Catalan club want them to replicate it at the Camp Nou. Besides Barca, Real Madrid are also keen on signing him.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are now 14th in the table. Porro believes Spurs’ poor form could jeopardise his chances of representing La Roja. Therefore, he wants to leave them and return to La Liga. His preference is to move to the Camp Nou over Real Madrid.

Signing Tottenham star not easy for La Liga giants

Another report from Cadena Ser explains it won’t be easy for Barcelona and Real Madrid to sign Pedro Porro. Their journalists, Javier Herráez and Santi Ovalle, cover the latest.

José Mourinho has Trent Alexander-Arnold and Denzel Dumfries as the recognised right-backs and can also utilise Federico Valverde in the same position. Real Madrid’s ‘interest is real’, while Herráez points to overbooking at the Spanish capital.

“He knows there has been interest, but right now there are two players in his position, and Valverde will play at right-back in all the important matches. Right now, he’s not a priority for Real Madrid, but he’s been on their radar. Who knows, maybe he could return in the summer, because Pedro Porro would love it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ovalle states Barcelona’s economic conditions would make it challenging for them to sign Pedro Porro.

“Laporta and Deco like him, but his price was too high in the summer,” Ovalle explained.

“Barca are going to be in trouble again with Financial Fair Play regulations because they’ll have a lot of problems returning to Montjuïc. I don’t think Barca are in a position to spend a lot on a full-back in the summer. But they do like him.”

This should certainly please Tottenham Hotspur, who would like to hold on to their star for longer. Even if he were to push for an exit, Porro’s suitors must be ready to spend big to at least make Spurs consider selling him.
