Wolves forward Hee-chan Hwang won’t face repercussions at Schalke following an incident involving a physiotherapist.

Schalke manager Miron Muslic confirmed today that the 30-year-old has been spoken to internally following the incident.

Hwang joined the German club on loan from Wolves in the summer following their relegation to the Championship.

It brought an end, albeit temporarily, to a four year stay at Molineux that saw him score 27 goals and assist 12 in 150 appearances for the club.

Germany return

The move to Schalke meant a return to Germany, where he had previously player for Hamburg and RB Leipzig, although he only made 25 appearances in the competition.

He’s yet to get going at Schalke so far, with six appearances totalling 238 minutes to date. That had, seemingly, led to some frustrations.

They boiled over during the cup match against Dynamo Dresden – a 2-0 defeat – with the South Korean physically confronting a member of the team’s medical staff. He was, reportedly, frustrated at having to receive treatment on the sidelines.

That, of course, is unacceptable at any club. But it seems Schalke are letting the matter lie after talks behind the scenes, rather than dishing out sporting consequences.

“We discussed this in front of the entire squad because discipline is something we value very highly and also demand,” explained Music.

“In the last 16 months, we haven’t had any issues with a lack of discipline, either on or off the pitch. We tried to explain this to him.

“He understood and showed a great deal of insight. There will be no consequences regarding his place in the squad—he will be included.”

Future impact?

Whether the incident has a direct impact on the striker’s time on the pitch, though, remains to be seen.

He’s still waiting for his breakthrough, and his first goal, since arriving from Wolves in the summer.

It is certainly something that will make Schalke think twice about signing him permanently next summer.

Afterall, players who haven’t performed on the pitch and are causing issues off it, are hardly at the top of a club’s transfer wish list.
