Beşiktaş continue to pursue West Ham United‘s Konstantinos Mavropanos for the winter market despite the Championship side taking a tough stance on letting him leave.

The Greece international returned to England when West Ham signed him from Stuttgart in August 2023. He previously had a spell at Arsenal, who sold him to the Bundesliga side in 2022.

After a mixed debut season at West Ham, the centre-back has been a regular since the 2024/25 season. He continues to have a prominent role under Nuno Espírito Santo, after deciding to stay despite the Hammers’ relegation.

This season, he made 13 appearances, even managing five goals and an assist. His form has convinced the Turkish club to consider signing him in January.

West Ham take firm stance

Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered a report from Turkey explaining that Beşiktaş will make an attempt in the next window. However, the London club aren’t keen on letting him leave.

That hasn’t put off the Black Eagles, and Fanatik states they will try to sign the West Ham United man in January.

Konstantinos Mavropanos was expected to leave following the English club’s relegation from the Premier League. That didn’t happen, and the Istanbul club are still looking to take him away from the Hammers.

West Ham man key for January exit

Fanatik state Beşiktaş officials have made contact with the 28-year-old’s agents, likely to find out his stance about a January move.

There’s no mention of what he plans to do during the mid-season window. If he were to inform West Ham United of his desire to leave, it would certainly improve the Süper Lig side’s chances of securing his services. If not, the operation will remain complicated.

In the event the Greek seeks for a move, then it will depend on how Beşiktaş react. They would have to make a convincing offer to tempt Nuno Espírito Santo’s side to sell him in January.

There’s belief a ‘high offer could change’ West Ham’s mind, without a mention of a figure. All of this would matter if Konstantinos Mavropanos opens the door for the transfer.
