Blackburn Rovers were chasing Augustus Kargbo for much of the second half of the winter market before completing his signing on January 31st.
The forward arrived at Ewood Park from Cesena FC on a permanent transfer and signed a contract until 2027, with an option for another year.
He joins Blackburn Rovers after scoring five goals and registering three assists from 21 games for the Serie B club this season.
Africa Foot have had a chat with the Sierra Leone international over his decision to leave Cesena for John Eustace’s side.
The 25-year-old has been in Italy throughout his senior career and left Italian football for the first time to join the Championship club on Friday.
Kargbo insists a move to Blackburn Rovers is a big step for him and he mentioned this when stating that he wants to help the English club.
“I joined Blackburn with a great sense of excitement and determination. It’s a big step in my career and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success while growing as a player,” he said.
Blackburn Rovers are fifth in the table, a point ahead of sixth placed West Bromwich Albion and seventh placed Middlesbrough. Kargbo’s aim is to continue his development while also helping his new club fulfil their goals.
“My main goals in England are to improve my game, help the team achieve goals and make a name for myself in one of the most competitive football environments. I want to develop both technically and physically and prove myself at this level,” Kargbo explained.
The former Cesena man states he was aware of Blackburn Rovers’ history and their fans even before joining them.
“I had an idea about Blackburn before I signed. I knew the history of the club, their passionate fans and their ambitions. I also followed the league,” he added.
