Crystal Palace‘s Darío Osorio hasn’t had a good start with the Premier League side because of a minor discomfort.
The forward first arrived in Europe when Midtjylland signed him from Universidad de Chile in 2023.
On summer deadline day, Crystal Palace secured the Chile international’s services from Midtjylland on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
There has been a lot of excitement over his move to Selhurst Park, both in Chile and in Europe.
Crystal Palace secured exciting talent
Midtjylland sporting director Kristian Kjær explained to Sport Witness why the player is special and won’t have a problem adapting at Crystal Palace.
He said: “I would say the defensive work rate [is something to watch out for]. But from an offensive mindset, it’s how fast he is with the ball. He can go left of the direct opponent, he can go right.”
“And then, of course, his shooting. His strengths are his long-range shooting, finishing technique and crossing with his very precise left foot. And then his high top-end speed and pressing abilities are also what make him very interesting. And then his character will fit the Premier League extremely well too.”
However, he hasn’t showcased his qualities for the Eagles just yet. Darío Osorio made his Crystal Palace debut by coming off the bench in their win over Fulham on September 5th. A few days later, he started in their EFL Cup win over Middlesbrough.
Pierre Sage hasn’t utilised him since then, raising concerns, especially in his country.

Crystal Palace protecting player
Prior to joining Crystal Palace, he played 829 minutes from 11 matches for Midtjylland this season.
There’s been suggestions of him struggling, and journalist Jorge Hevia Cristino took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an important update.
He states: ‘Darío Osorio isn’t going through any ordeal in Europe. He had a minor issue and they’re taking it easy on him. The club knew there was a FIFA international break coming up and they handled it accordingly.’
The UEFA Conference League winners are taking this step to avoid turning the minor issue into a major problem. This is the key reason for his restricted role at the London club so far.
If Cristino’s report is true, it makes sense for Pierre Sage and the Eagles to not rush the Chilean. Their current approach seems to gradually hand Osorio minutes so that he can start showcasing his qualities on the pitch in the near future.
