Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner played an important role in Bayern Munich signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace in 2024.
The winger arrived at Selhurst Park as a teenager from Reading in July 2021 and was initially part of Crystal Palace U21s. He made one appearance for them before making his way into the first team.
Olise managed 16 goals and 25 assists in 90 matches for Crystal Palace. In his last season, he struggled with two different injuries but still managed to star for the Eagles.
To put it in context, the attacker had 10 goals and six assists from 19 Premier League matches. This includes four goals and three assists from eight matches under Glasner, who arrived at the London club in February 2024.
Glasner dispelled Bayern Munich’s doubts
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund said had held talks with Oliver Glasner before signing Michael Olise.
Fast forward to September 2026 and Bild relays that when providing a background on the manager’s important role.
The 24-year-old had given ‘bizarre interviews’ to the media whilst at the Premier League side. This had raised doubts within the Bundesliga winners about whether to go ahead with the operation to sign him.
At that time, the Bavarian club held talks with the current Nottingham Forest manager. The Austrian ‘convinced Bayern Munich that the eccentric striker’s behaviour had improved and that his idiosyncrasies would not pose a significant problem for the club’.
Glasner’s assurance, as per the report, is one of the key reasons Bayern Munich secured his services.

Olise starred since Crystal Palace exit
In 2024, Oliver Glasner said Crystal Palace can’t replace him directly and had to sign two players.
The attacker has enjoyed an impressive run since leaving Crystal Palace for the German champions.
He managed 50 goals and 58 assists from 114 matches, and eight goals and four assists are from seven matches this season. Michael Olise has won the league and both cup competitions with Bayern Munich.
In September 2024, he made his debut for France and has been a regular since then. In short, the attacker continues to shine for club and country since leaving Selhurst Park.
