AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori is ‘genuinely open to joining’ Aston Villa this summer, but Unai Emery’s side are hesitating.
Calciomercato report that Milan are keen to move Tomori on this summer and, the most concrete proposals have come from the Premier League.
Coventry and Newcastle have already been in touch earlier in the window. West Ham, now in the Championship, have made inquiries also. Now Aston Villa are at the front of the queue.
They’re on the hunt for a replacement for Ezri Konsa. Sport Witness reported on their interest in Tomori, from reports in Italy, yesterday.

Calciomercato report that Aston Villa are the only club that Fikayo Tomori is ‘genuinely open to joining’ this summer.
Talks have been ongoing for several days with Milan regarding the defender. They’re also talking about a potential deal for Rafa Leão.
All signs pointed to the two clubs reaching an agreement for the centre-back worth €10m plus bonuses. But, in the last few hours, the situation has changed. Aston Villa have now slowed things down as they seek a deal for Club Brugge defender Joel Ordóñez.
That’s clearly a concern for AC Milan, who now want further talks to get Fikayo Tomori back on the table.
Aston Villa relationship could be key
Their Executive Assistant Hendrik Almstadt, who was previously sporting director at Villa Park from 2015 to 2016, has an excellent relationship with his previous club.
He will attempt to re-establish contact with hopes of finalising a deal. Should it fall through, Milan will continue working the English market to try and find suitors for Tomori late in the window.
They are keen to offload his ‘heavy contract’ before the transfer window slams shut. The 28-year-old is not a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans moving forwards. The hope had been to send him to Aston Villa but now it seems fear is growing that won’t happen.
