Bazoumana Touré is set to join Newcastle United after they reached an agreement with Hoffenheim for a record breaking deal this week.

BILD Frankfurt report that the 20-year-old is scheduled for a medical this week before his big move to St James Park is finalised.

Newcastle pay €50m

According to the newspaper, the Ivorian has already reached a full agreement with Newcastle to join them this season. Hoffenheim, too, have reached an agreement with Newcastle.

That will see them receive around €50m as a fixed price, plus up to €2m in bonuses. That is a new club record for the German side.

They were initially reluctant to see Bazoumana Touré leave this summer after he played a major part in their successful campaign last season. The youngster was a key player as they secured Europa League football next season.

The hope had been to keep him, but Newcastle have put money on the table that cannot be refused. The German side will at least be pleased ‘from a financial perspective’.

Their previous club record sale was Joelinton’s €43.5m move to Newcastle in 2020. He will now be replaced by the winger, moving to the same club.

According to BILD, Touré is set for a medical in the North East this week. If all goes to plan, Newcastle will also announce the deal before the week is over.

The Magpies have moved quickly to ensure that they get the 20-year-old this summer. Borussia Dortmund had also shown interest in Bazoumana Touré. Liverpool were also potential suitors, with reports in Germany naming them as such for months.

That came after his impressive debut campaign in the Bundesliga last season. He managed five goals in 30 games for the German club, while also registering 12 assists.

Now he’s set to move to the Premier League, and Hoffenheim are making a quick but huge profit on a player who only joined for €10m early last year.
