Everton continue to pursue Galatasaray’s Barış Alper Yılmaz, after making offers to sign him this summer.
On August 3rd, we relayed news of the Istanbul club rejecting a €35m verbal offer from the Toffees. The winger has a dream of making a switch to the Premier League.
Later that month, Sport Witness covered a report from Turkey explaining that Everton made another verbal offer approaching €40m.
Everton still keen on signing
David Moyes’ side haven’t given up on the 26-year-old, who starred for Galatasaray last season, scoring 12 goals and contributing 16 assists.
Journalist Burhan Can Terzi covers Everton’s interest when discussing Galatasaray’s plans and Haber Sarı Kırmızı have relayed his comments.
He reports the Premier League side want to sign the Turkish international. A move, for now, remains complicated because of Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek.
“Everton are seriously interested in Barış Alper Yılmaz, but President Dursun Özbek says ‘he will stay’,” he said.
Everton want quick signing
Galatasaray have confirmed Rafael Leão’s arrival from AC Milan, and like Barış Alper Yılmaz, he prefers to operate on the left wing.
Fotospor reports the Merseyside club are still keen on signing the latter, and Newcastle United have joined them in the transfer race.
Everton and the Magpies have both made approaches, with an aim of finalising the deal before Tuesday’s deadline.
He has two years left on his contract, and Transfermarkt value him at €35m. The Süper Lig winners were earlier open to letting the player leave and had set a €50m price.
However, Galatasaray have changed their stance and intend to hold on to Yılmaz because of the lack of sufficient time to find a suitable replacement. The Turkish window is open until September 4th and the one in England closes on Tuesday.
The Toffees and Newcastle United have to make a tempting offer quickly, to convince Galatasaray, to stand a chance of signing the attacker.
