Viktor Gyökeres has done well since arriving at Arsenal , although it was very unlikely he’d replicate his scoring ratio for Sporting.
The Gunners paid €63m to sign the Swede in 2025 but at times, however, Kai Havertz is preferred at the moment. So far this season, the ex-Sporting man hasn’t found the net and his starting position upfront has also come under question.
In the 2025/26 campaign, he found the net 13 times in the Premier League. That was a fall-off from his last season at Sporting, where everything suited his strengths.
Now, a move to Italy could be on the cards.
Initial contact made
PianetaMilan report that AC Milan are considering a summer move for the Arsenal man. Initial, exploratory contact has been established and the striker is seen as an ‘extremely expensive’ target by the Rossoneri.
The report notes that Mikel Arteta’s staff have growing doubts about Gyokeres and this can prompt a possible exit.
The player’s entourage is now also on alert. They have seen how he isn’t being used regularly and can soon look around at other destinations.
Milan want to strike a loan deal, with Ruben Amorim happy to reunite with the forward. The San Siro are also understanding if there is any room for a discount, since annoyance in the player’s camp is slowly growing.
Milan need a big investment
While Gyokeres hasn’t made a mark at Arsenal, his value is unlikely to have declined. The Gunners’ recent successes will make them a tough club to negotiate with, unless the player pushes for an exit.
For now, there are no signs of that. This suggests Milan will have to shell out a significant amount on the 28-year-old’s signing.
Besides, they spent a big amount on Goncalo Ramos in the summer. The Portuguese is yet to fully settle in but he is the undisputed first-choice at Milan. As a result, there is little sense in Amorim’s side pushing for another first-choice striker signing.
