Aston Villa pose a major threat to AS Roma in their efforts to sign West Ham United‘s Crysencio Summerville.
Two days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that Aston Villa and Manchester United asked about the winger. He wants to leave West Ham, and his agent is engineering a move to Villa Park or Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old is seeking for a new challenge following West Ham’s relegation. He has options to continue in England or join the Serie A side this summer.
No official offer for West Ham man
On Saturday, we relayed news AS Roma made an official €46m bid to West Ham United. The player has also given his approval to join them.
Sunday’s edition of Il Tempo mentions Aston Villa’s interest in Crysencio Summerville when covering the latest on the Italian club.
The Netherlands international, who initially requested €6m net per year, is willing to lower his salary demands.
In recent hours, the parties are closer to an agreement. This in return will allow AS Roma to knock on West Ham’s door.
The Serie A side haven’t made an official offer to the London club but have started talks.
There’s confidence an agreement can be struck with West Ham for €45m.
Giallorossi sporting director Tony D’Amico is now waiting for the attacker’s definite approval to advance with the Hammers.
Aston Villa still a threat
On Saturday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported of Aston Villa’s verbal agreement with Chelsea to sell Morgan Rogers for £117m [€137.5m]. His sale will improve the Villans funds and also leave a hole in Unai Emery’s squad.
Il Tempo claims Aston Villa ‘in particular’ are a ‘dangerous opponent’ for AS Roma in the latter’s pursuit of Crysencio Summerville. Therefore, the Italian club must ‘keep an eye out’ on the Europa League winners.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are anticipating a threat from the Premier League side.
To avoid this, Roma are attempting a definitive move, likely with an offer to West Ham United, to avoid Aston Villa snatching the Dutchman from their clutches.
The newspaper states: ‘These are tense hours to see if Roma’s move will be successful…’
