Bruno Fernandes finds himself in a rather difficult situation at Manchester United. A possible exit is now starting to take shape.
The midfielder was left on the bench against Bournemouth at the weekend. This came after his poor performance against Como, following which he appeared to question Michael Carrick’s tactical approach in Italy.
Sport Witness have taken a close look at Atletico Madrid’s interest in the Portuguese’s side. Diego Simeone’s side are alive to the idea of uniting with him and could see him as a centre of the project.
Now, another transfer idea could be taking shape for the Manchester United player.
Saudi Arabia move on the cards
Tuttomercatoweb report that uncertainty is hovering around Fernandes, especially considering how the past few weeks have been.
The outlet claim that talks over his renewal at Manchester United have also stalled. While there is an option for an automatic extension, it remains to be seen if that is exercised.
In the meantime, Al-Hilal have returned to the fray for the midfielder. They are ready to make an offer ‘as early as January’ and are willing to offer as much as €55m to land him.
Manchester United’s stance over this remains to be seen but the report points at an increasingly fractured relationship between the two.
They point out that the club’s failure to compete at the highest level has finally impacted Fernandes. This can play a huge role in his departure from Old Trafford.
Our take: Red Devils can consider exit
The current period appears to be the most difficult one, when it comes to Manchester United’s relationship with Fernandes. If things keep going south, the Red Devils should consider an exit.
The club is in a tactical mess and it will hold the player back quite a bit. Besides, the Saudi club can offer a huge amount and it will help the Old Trafford club earn a capital gain, with Fernandes’ contract running out within a year.
