Tottenham‘s Lucas Bergvall was linked with an exit from the club in the summer and his situation might not have changed much at all.

Sport Witness tracked how Italian clubs were alive to the opportunity of landing the Swede. The English press made it clear that the player was seeking an exit, which led to Serie A sides seeing Bergvall as a transfer opportunity.

Soon enough, it became clear that he was going to stay at Tottenham, where he has been around the squad under Roberto De Zerbi.

Despite that, game time remains low for the Sweden international and a move to Italy could yet be on the cards.

Player could be part of rebuild

Tuttomercatoweb look at Napoli’s interest in the Tottenham talent, who has played less than 150 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Max Allegri’s side could lose as many as three key midfielders in the summer. Andre Frank Zambo-Anguissa’s contract runs out in the summer of 2027 and Stanislav Lobotka is yet to renew his deal too. Doubts have been growing about Kevin De Bruyne’s future, which can led to a huge midfield rebuild for the Partenopei.

That is why Bergvall is being closely monitored, with sporting director Giovanni Manna very keen on bolstering the midfield.

The interest is only in the initial stages but it could grow. In the meantime, Napoli are also keeping an eye on Boca Juniors’ Tomas Aranda and Cagliari’s Alessandro Romano.

Move could pay off

Soon, Napoli will be without reliable options in midfield and that is the sort of project Bergvall should want. It will give him regular minutes and along with Scott McTominay, he could be the centre of the project.

Besides, Manna has been no stranger to recruiting from English clubs. The strategy has largely worked well, with McTominay and Zambo Anguissa good examples of that.

Everything will come down to Tottenham’s demands though, especially if they favour Premier League clubs from a financial perspective.
