The UK press has linked Nottingham Forest with a move for Lucas Bergvall and initial approaches have now been made.
The Swede is on his way out of Tottenham and is believed to be annoyed with life at the club. His development hasn’t gone to plan, as Bergvall has often been troubled by injuries.
In April, Sport Witness have covered how Chelsea and Aston Villa are in the picture for the midfielder. Tottenham’s stance then was different but they’re open to a sale now.
With Elliot Anderson on his way out of Nottingham Forest, the City Ground club have made an initial offer for the young midfielder.
Bergvall’s value high
Gianluca Di Marzio spoke to the Tuttomercatoweb podcast. He revealed Napoli’s interest in the Tottenham talent but also made it clear that other clubs are also hovering around.
The journalist clarified the situation – via CalcioNapoli24: “Bergvall, a Tottenham player who will perhaps find less playing time with all those signings, is working with his entourage to leave.
“He’s a player you think: “I’ll go there, maybe l’lI take him on loan, offer €30m, offer €35m and they’ll give him to me,’ but Napoli, who are among the most interested teams in Italy, have made an effort to understand and thought perhaps, at most, they could land him with €40m.”
It doesn’t end there, as Di Marzio believes Nottingham Forest have made an initial offer. But it has been rejected by Tottenham.
“Instead, Tottenham recently rejected €50m, likely from an English club, likely Nottingham Forest. And I don’t think they’ll go below that threshold. It will always take €50m or more.”
England stay looking likely
The Italian press has grown attentive to the 20-year-old but Serie A sides could be out-priced already. They usually do not pay over the top for players unless they have proven themselves consistently.
Bergvall doesn’t fall under that bracket, having shown only glimpses of his abilities.
That is why Nottingham Forest should still be in the driving seat for the Swede. They have earned a huge amount from Anderson’s sale and Bergvall feels like a natural replacement.
Another target in Davide Frattesi is more of an advanced midfielder. Bergvall is much better playing deeper and he is also younger than the Italian.
