Chelsea have made a fresh move to sign AS Roma’s Manu Koné ahead of deadline day.

Chelsea want to strengthen their midfield and have had the 25-year-old on their agenda.

Hawkins reports Manu Koné is ‘very high’ on their target list as they assess several options before making further advances.

Santi Aouna, via Foot Mercato, is backing up Hawkins’ latest update about Manu Koné. Their title says the west London club want the AS Roma man to replace Enzo Fernández.

The Argentina international’s agent, Javier Pastore, has publicly expressed his desire to leave Stamford Bridge.

Fernández is a concrete target for Manchester City. If he were to leave, Chelsea want to replace him with Koné as he’s their priority target.

Chelsea have to spend over €50m

Fabrice Hawkins and Foot Mercato don’t mention the fee needed to take him away from the Serie A side.

Manu Koné has a contract until 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €50m. Last month, the Italian media covered Manchester United’s interest in the Frenchman.

At that time, the Red Devils were willing to offer €50m while AS Roma wanted €60m. The Blues may now need at least €50m to convince the Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to sanction a late move.

With less than 48 hours left in this window, Chelsea have to rush to find agreements with Roma and Koné, and then carry out his medical to complete his signing.
