Wolverhampton Wanderers ‘will be back in the hunt’ for Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz this summer but face competition from La Liga.

That’s according to Sport, who say the Spanish giants are expecting a ‘rain of offers’ to arrive for the striker at the end of the season.

They explain that Mariano will leave the Bernabeu this summer and has ‘received interest’ from several Spanish and European teams.

Sevilla, Valencia, Getafe and Rayo Vallecano have all wanted him in the past and ‘will insist’ on signing him when the market opens.

They will be joined by Wolves in doing so according to the newspaper, with the striker still ‘highly-rated’ in the Premier League despite the fact he has barely played for Madrid in the last five years.

He’s managed just 70 games in that time, scoring seven goals and playing a total of 2,067 minutes while the big-name stars have won titles and kept him on the bench or out of the picture entirely.

It is time at Lyon, were he scored 21 goals in 45 games, that teams such as Wolves remember, though, and they and the rest of his suitors remain ‘in love’ with him despite a disappointing fall into the background at Madrid.
