Manchester United are today suddenly thrown in the race to sign Santos centre-forward Marcos Leonardo.

With the player being said close to a transfer to AS Roma, the Italian media has been making big coverage of his situation.

That’s why CalcioMercato.it features a short story claiming the Giallorossi ‘remain strong’ in their pursuit, having a ‘hot negotiation’ with Santos.

The outlet then lists Manchester United as one of the clubs who are trying to take the player to the Premier League.

It’s said that Santos only demand €15m for the transfer, which doesn’t sound like a bad price for any of the clubs who are interested in him.

And despite the chase from the Premier League, it’s claimed that Marcos Leonardo wants the move to Roma.

It’s interesting to see Manchester United now mentioned in this race, because earlier today, reports from Italy only claimed that Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest were battling for the signing.

The striker has been drawing big interest from Europe, especially after having five goals in five games in the U-20 World Cup this year, but this truly is the first time we’ve seen the Red Devils linked to him.
