Sean Bai has this week taken up a role at Burnley, where he’s now working as chief of staff.
That move has received some attention from the Spanish media, as the Singaporean worked at Valencia a couple of years ago.
As Super Deporte, Valencia’s local sports newspaper, today writes about his new job, they actually say the Burnley move has come as a ‘big surprise’ to them.
The newspaper recalls that the 30-year-old had a quick rise at Valencia, where he arrived as a director of the president’s office and soon became their academy director, even being an interim CEO at one point.
He was then sacked in August 2022, report Super Deporte,, but didn’t disappear, as he’d been using social media to criticise the club’s management and back some of their players.
Bai now seems excited to work at Burnley, and surely has some interesting expertise to bring to the Clarets.
He had been working at Singaporean club Geylang International lately, and recently gave an interview saying moving to the English club was a ‘no-brainer’ decision, and he agreed ‘almost immediately’.
A lifelong Manchester United fan, he’ll have to put that allegiance to one side for a while.
