Nicolò Fagioli’s brother has revealed the current Juventus player turned down Manchester United when he was at Cremonese.

The midfielder spent four years in Cremonese’s youth system before joining the Old Lady in 2015. Prior to him signing for the Turin club, the Red Devils showed interest in securing Fagioli’s services.

A move to Manchester United never materialised because of the Italy international’s desire to continue in his home country.

Tuttosport have interviewed Alessandro Fagioli, and when asked how Juve first approached signing his brother, he mentioned Manchester United and a few other clubs.

“Nicolò is a mummy’s boy, he has never liked distance. When he was at the Cremonese youth team, he said no to Manchester United: he didn’t feel ready to leave Italy,” Alessandro said.

“And for Juve he preferred to decline the interest of Inter, with whom he auditioned, Milan and Atalanta: Nicolò’s bianconera faith prevailed over everything.”

Nicolò’s decision to snub Manchester United seems to have paid off in the long run. After spending a few years with Juve’s youth team, he was loaned out to Cremonese last term. The midfielder played a role in helping them achieve promotion to Serie A.

The Italian has been included in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans this season. He came off the bench and scored in Juve’s 1-0 win over Leece in October.

Since then, Nicolò has started for the Serie A club in all competitions and also scored in his side’s 2-0 victory over Inter Milan.
