Corriere della Sera’s Bergamo edition reports on Atalanta’s change of stance when it comes to Duvan Zapata.

According to the report, a year ago West Ham United and Newcastle United both wanted to sign the forward. The Serie A club built a wall and tried to block approaches for the Colombian.

A price tag of €35m was put on him, partly to try and scare off interested clubs.

Atalanta are now open to a sale, and it’s claimed Zapata still has admirers in the Premier League, although it’s made clear the price will have to change.

Whereas that €35m was once clung to, now it’s ‘impossible to even think’ clubs would consider paying such an amount.

West Ham and Newcastle United have since both added options in attack, spending heavily to do so. It’s unlikely either club will now strongly move for Zapata, especially given the 31-year-old has only scored one Serie A goal this season.

Atalanta will now likely regret their strong transfer stance.
