The Portuguese media is taking it very easy when speaking of Manchester City’s negotiations for the Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes today.
Although they trust the English press and cover the reports which say there are advanced talks for a move (which of course originally started in Portugal), the Lisbon outlets don’t jump on the bandwagon this Monday.
As we covered earlier, newspaper Record referred to claims of a deal being nearly agreed, and said: ‘this information does not correspond to the truth and the negotiations are not completed for the moment.’
And it turns out that newspaper A Bola says that a formal bid hasn’t even been put on the table so far by Manchester City, despite the negotiations.
A Bola confirms that the Sporting director Bruno Viana was in Manchester to speak about the midfielder’s future last week, but although it’s believed that Fernandes will indeed move to England, there’s nothing done so far.
The outlet writes that there are interested clubs ‘in the entire of Europe’, including in Spain, Germany and especially England, but his destination isn’t decided yet.
