If Wolves want to secure themselves an absolutely easy transfer this summer, then they’ll revive their interest in Boulaye Dia.
That’s at least if the latest information from Gazzetta dello Sport is anything to go by as he’s found himself bombed out by Salernitana and constantly being fined.
The newspaper explains that the forward is one of four players who ‘will do everything possible’ next summer to make a transfer away happen.
The belief is that he will have ‘real opportunities’ in front of him despite a disastrous season in which he’s completely fell out of favour.
He wanted to leave last summer and has a loan bid from Wolves at the end of the summer, which the Italian club laughed out of hand at the time but are now regretting rejecting.
Dia went on strike after that was rejected and found himself out of the squad before eventually working his way back in.
That didn’t last long, though, and he’s now been removed from the squad until the end of the season after another falling out. Indeed the club are waiting for an Arbitration Board to approve them reducing his wages by 50% until the end of the campaign and potential damages worth and potential damages worth €20m.
That’s because he refused to play in the recent clash with Udinese, something the forward later denied in an interview with L’Equipe, for which he was then fined again.
The reality is that he’s been thinking about that failed Wolves move all year and hasn’t gotten over it being rejected at any point.
He’s still dreaming of a move to the Premier League, despite interest from Lazio, so the opportunity is there for Wolves to get him and easily at this point.
Whether they’re still interested after this year’s issues, though, is debatable. Although to put all the blame on the player here would seem unwise, the example of the fine after the L’Equipe interview is key, as it doesn’t seem he’s even allowed to tell part of his side of the story.
