Nottingham Forest fullback Gonzalo Montiel is today featured in an interview with Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

The 26-year-old, who’s loaned by Sevilla, talked about his World Cup title with Argentina last year, as well as his transfer to the Premier League.

Montiel has been surrounded by transfer rumours lately, as his little playing time with Nottingham Forest would be the reason to have his loan spell cut short.

The fullback, however, was a starter in the Tricky Trees’ win over Newcastle United, and after that game, he doesn’t sound unhappy at the English club.

“I decided to come here because I always dreamt of playing in the English league and now I am very happy,” said Montiel.

“The Premier League is a great league, definitely superior to La Liga. It’s very competitive and one can only be happy to play there. Then many Argentinians have played here and played a lot of games. For me it is an honour to be here and thank God I can follow in their footsteps.”

Montiel was also asked about the struggles that some Argentines have faced in England, such as the food, but he claims that he’s doing pretty well there.

“It depends, but the truth is that I am adapting well to England. I am very happy to be here and I will do my best to cope with life here in the best possible way.”

With the Boxing Day match, Montiel now has six appearances for Nottingham Forest this season. Rumours had been claiming that he could even return to South America, as clubs from Argentina and Brazil would be interested in his signing. But these quotes make it clear he’d be happy to stay in England, as long as he gets some chances to play under Nuno Espírito Santo.
