Liverpool’s Thiago Alcântara has struggled with multiple injuries since he arrived at Anfield from Bayern Munich in 2020.

The midfielder hasn’t made an appearance this season as he has been on the sidelines due to a hip injury. This hasn’t put off Barcelona from considering a move for him next year.

That’s according to Sport, who say the La Liga side see the Liverpool player as a market opportunity.

This is mentioned in a report that takes a look at midfielders the Catalan club could sign for an affordable price in the winter market. They are reviewing ‘interesting names’ and the Spaniard is included in the list.

Barca would have to find a balance between Xavi Hernández’s needs and their delicate economic conditions to bring in a midfielder next month.

Thiago knows the Spanish giants well as he graduated from their academy and spent four years with their first team before leaving for Bayern in 2013.

His contract at Liverpool expires in 2024, and Barcelona could wait until the end of his deal.

The Spaniard is yet to recover from a hip injury, which is why Sport state he ‘would be an option’ for Xavi’s side next summer, when Thiago will be available on a free transfer.
