On Thursday, a surprising little story came out in France that Leeds United were interested in Josh Doig, currently contracted to Hellas Verona.

The left-back has become a target for Marseille, who are interested in signing a new player in that position, but it was said they would face competition from Elland Road.

The bad news for Leeds, if they are indeed interested in the Scottish defender, is that they need to act very quickly, as the Ligue 1 side are speeding things up, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, wanting to hopefully close the deal on Friday night.

There is still time for Daniel Farke’s side to act, however, as the two clubs are yet to find an agreement on a transfer fee.

Down the player’s end, he is happy with what he would receive at Marseille were he to sign, meaning Leeds would also have to trump that to convince him to move to the Championship.

In short, time is running out, but if Leeds do have €4.5-5m lying around and they want to bring in Doig, that’s the fee believed to be required to convince Hellas Verona.
