Finally, after what seems like months of negotiating, Chelsea are about to get their new technical director Christopher Vivell.

The German left RB Leipzig back in October when the rumours of Todd Boehly wanting him at Stamford Bridge started circulating, and everyone thought it would be sorted rather quickly.

However, it has taken this long for Chelsea to dot the i’s and cross the t’s, as Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg reports on Monday.

Taking to Twitter, he explains that ‘if everything goes right, the deal could be announced this week’, with Vivell potentially starting as the Blues’ new technical director this very month.

He adds that ‘contracts are signed and visa done as reported’ previously, with this paving the way for a new ‘transfer strategy’ in the next transfer windows.

Following the acquisition of Chelsea by Boehly, the owner was the one who took over transfers, splashing the cash around to add to the squad in the final weeks of the summer.

That will seemingly now change, with a more calculated approach seemingly on its way, but we’ll have to wait and see until Vivell formally takes over and puts his plans in place.
