It’s no longer a secret, because it’s been reported for at least a week now, but Wolverhampton Wanderers are in talks with Atlético Madrid to sign Matheus Cunha.

The Brazilian forward has been unable to find form at the La Liga side this season, which, on top of him missing out on his national team’s squad for the World Cup, has caused him to look elsewhere.

Luckily for him, his stock hasn’t dropped that much, and Wolves’ new manager, Julen Lopetegui, is a fan of his.

Talks regarding a move to Molineux have been ongoing for some time, and Goal in Spain explain that there are now ‘up to four teams’ trying to sign him.

As things stand, ‘Wolverhampton Wanders continue to appear in pole’, with Lopetegui wanting to bolster his attack and ‘carry out a revolution in this market’.

Of course, Wolves ‘have the support of Jorge Mendes’, who has good ties with both the Premier League side and Atlético Madrid.

He placed Gonçalo Guedes there in the summer, and could do the same with Cunha, although it’s said the La Liga side want at least €30m for their man.

Goal go as far as saying that Wolves ‘would be the first option’ for the player, meaning that the others are behind for the time being.
