Gabriel Martinelli was excellent for Arsenal on Sunday as Mikel Arteta’s side beat Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Brazilian was named Man of the Match and his performance was one of the brightest points to take away from the 3-2 victory. The Gunners were good overall and deservedly beat Jurgen Klopp’s side, with Martinelli one of the stand-out performers.

Scoring a goal and adding an assist, the 21-year-old has now found the back of the net four times this season, with two assists to his name. He has a contract lasting until June 2024, and Arsenal have the option to extend it by a further year.

That means there’s no big worry about the player’s contract situation, yet a renewal, which would reward Martinelli’s progress, in on the cards anyway.

Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade reports ‘conversations have started’ for a new deal which would tie the attacker to the Gunners until 2028. Both parties in negotiations have ‘optimism’ over an agreement being found, and this looks like another piece of good news during a positive time for Arsenal.
