Following Leeds United’s relegation to the Championship, a lot of first-team players are set to leave the club this summer.

One of the reasons they can do that is a number of them have a clause in their contract that allows them to go on loan to another team for a year, which AS Roma are trying to take advantage of.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, as the Serie A side, as well as bringing back Diego Llorente, are trying to sign Rasmus Kristensen from Leeds.

It’s said an ‘agreement has already been reached’ between the Italians and the Dane, as they ‘didn’t even have to negotiate’ with the Whites since players ‘can take advantage of a special clause’ that allows them to ‘free themselves from any bond for a year on loan’.

The idea here, we’re guessing, would be for them to go somewhere else on loan to avoid Championship football, alleviating Leeds’ wage budget, while the club tries to immediately return to the Premier League with other players they might have or bring in.

However, AS Roma, keen to maintain ‘good relations’ between themselves and Leeds, ‘will seek an agreement’ with the English club that can satisfy all parties.

Kristensen would then come in to fight for a starting spot under José Mourinho with Zeki Celik, while Rick Karsdorp would be sent somewhere else.
