Arsenal midfielder Marcelo Flores is a potential target for Real Betis, having been on their radar ‘for some time’.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the Spanish club could move for the youngster this summer.

The newspaper explains that despite a disappointing season with Real Oviedo last year, the player has been ‘dazzling’ with the Gunners B side and thus Mikel Arteta is ‘looking for the right destination’ for him.

The newspaper has learned that he is a player who has ‘been on the Real Betis’ radar for some time, with the Spanish club continuing their policy of targeting young players for the future.

They believe that a deal for Flores would be difficult as Arsenal have the player tied to a contract until 2025 and still consider him a potential star of the future.

At the moment they haven’t got space for him, particularly as he would take up a non-EU citizen space in the squad, which they don’t have spare.

There is also no real intention to sign him in the immediate future, but they don’t want to lose sight of him either and there is a belief that ‘anything can happen’ before the end of the window.

Much will depend on Arsenal and what they decide to do with him, but Betis are keeping an eye on the situation after monitoring the Mexican for a while.
