Cengiz Under’s club Medipol Basaksehir have released an official statement regarding the transfer of their player. Manchester City officials travelled to Istanbul for transfer talks for the youngster, widely reported in the Turkish media today, and Basaksehir say there’s no official agreement between two clubs, yet.
The Turkish club have gone to the extent of releasing a statement saying: ‘We would like to confirm that we discussed for 4 hours with Manchester City officials regarding the transfer of our young player Cengiz Under. We can confirm that there’s no agreement reached with City officials yet.’
The Turkish youngster wants to play in the Premier League and has been linked with a move to the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea but it seems City is the most serious club at the moment. Cengiz recently confirmed he idolises Manchester City’s David Silva which could help attract him to the English club.
Should Pep Guardiola’s club be successful with the signing, Under would almost certainly go out on loan.
If Medipol Basaksehir were trying to calm the story with their statement, they’re likely to find they’ve actually managed the opposite. With talks confirmed, this Manchester City rumour is going to stick around.
