With so many people surprised to see a player called Betinho included in Manchester United’s squad on the Premier League’s website, we can only imagine how shocked the footballer was himself.

The Sport Club Espinho striker, who played in England when on loan at Brentford in 2014/15, was suddenly contacted by many people asking if he had actually joined the Red Devils, and he thought that was a big joke at first.

Betinho has since been interviewed by Portuguese outlet Jornal de Notícias, and talked about the strange day he just had.

“I only knew it was true when my mates sent me messages and then I confirmed that it was indeed my name on the Premier League website. I got more calls today than on my birthday,” Betinho told Jornal de Notícias.

Jornal de Notícias points out that besides playing for the non-league side, Betinho also works as a personal trainer, but ‘doesn’t deny’ he’d like to play in the Premier League, having Manchester United and Liverpool as his two favourite teams there.

On Instagram, the player posted a screenshot of the Premier League page and wrote: ‘Thank you, Manchester United, see you soon,’ also tagging Portuguese players Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, and saying: ‘It’ll be a pleasure to share the dressing room with you’, having a laugh at the situation.

With the Red Devils looking for a striker, the 29-year-old seems ready for the challenge, just in case.
