Barcelona defender Marlon was linked with a move to West Ham United, Southampton and Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers went as far as making a €20m bid for the Brazilian, but ended the interest in the player due to work permit issues.

Today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo claims the La Liga winners and Sassuolo have reached an agreement for the centre-back and only an official confirmation is now pending.

Ernesto Valverde’s side defeated Boca Juniors 3-0 in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Wednesday and the South American came to Camp Nou to say goodbyes to his current teammates.

The Serie A club will pay €6m plus €6m in variables for the 22-year-old, who will sign a five-year deal with Roberto De Zerbi’s side. The Spanish champions have already given permission to Marlon to travel to Italy to undergo his medical on Thursday and will then sign a contract with his new club.
