Earlier today, a couple of articles emerged in Italy claiming that Atalanta were trying to overtake Inter Milan in the race to sign West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca.

There was talk that Merih Demiral would be included to try and sweet talk the Hammers into accepting a deal, but that was quickly dismissed by the next article.

Now, TuttoMercatoWeb provide their own version of the situation, and seem to dismiss everything that has been reported today when it comes to Atalanta and the West Ham striker.

They explain that while Scamacca is a name the Serie A side have looked at over time, the Bergamo side ‘have never even made an enquiry’ regarding the Hammers man.

One of the reasons for that would be his wages, which they clearly can’t afford.

That’s why the idea of a transfer involving both Demiral and Scamacca is ‘impossible’, with it also added that the centre-back ‘would not accept such a destination’, meaning West Ham, with so much time left in the transfer window.

His plan would therefore be to wait until the last few days of the summer in hope that something better and ideal appears, like a loan.

It seems there has been a lot of confusion and misinformation spread around today by someone behind the scenes, but the truth will likely quickly come to light, as it often does.
